Water Flow Meter Specification

When you look at flow meters, these are the important spec parameters to check:

Flow Rate Range: Minimum and maximum flow that the meter can measure (e.g., in L/min, m/h, kg/h).
Accuracy / Error: How close the measured flow is to the actual flow.
Repeatability: The ability to give the same reading on repeated measurements under the same conditions.
Turndown Ratio / Rangeability: Ratio of maximum flow to minimum flow measurable with acceptable accuracy.
Pressure Drop: How much pressure is lost across the flow meter important for process design.
Operating Pressure: Maximum pressure the meter can handle.
Operating Temperature: The temperature range of the fluid that the meter can work with.
Wetted Materials: What materials inside the meter come in contact with the fluid (e.g., SS304, SS316, Hastelloy) matters for corrosion, cleanliness.
Output / Signal Type:
- Analog (like 420 mA)
- Digital (Modbus, HART, RS485)
- Pulse / Frequency output
- Status / Alert outputs
Power Supply: Voltage, power consumption.
Installation Type: In-line, insertion, clamp-on, flange size.
Protection / IP Rating: E.g., IP65, IP67 for resistance to dust / water.
Certifications: (If relevant) Explosion-proof ratings, safety certifications, industry standards.
Additional Measurements: Some flow meters also measure density, temperature, pressure, or mass flow (not just volume).
